Oh My Achin Back!
SO many humans have low back pain, whether it be stress, sitting, walking, driving, or any other zillion things it could be. If everyone stretched 15 minutes a day, we would be a happier people.
The main hip flexors, the iliopsoas, or psoas for short, do what their name suggests- flex the hip. If they are short, tight, overused, underused, or anything else, guess what? They cause pain in the low back. Why you ask? I’ll tell you! The psoas attaches to every single one of the vertebrates on the low back. That’s the lumbar spine – then it stretches diagonally through the body to attach to the top of the femur bone. On the way, it lays inside the pelvic bone. So imagine if it gets tight, how it feels. You may feel it in the low back, the side or the front. Pretty crazy right?
